RECAP | Otters strike first but fall in Game Four of FLCF
WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2026) - The Evansville Otters (2-2) scored first but dropped Game Four of the Frontier League Midwest Conference Finals against the Washington Wild Things (2-2) on Saturday night, 9-3.
Dylan Zentko made his fourth start of 2026 for Evansville against Zach Kirby for Washington, making his second postseason start.
Dennis Pierce opened the scoring for the Otters with an RBI double that scored Amani Jones from first base in the top of the first.
Washington answered quickly with five runs in the bottom to make it 5-1 early.
Evansville would make it closer in the top of the fourth inning with a two-run triple from Sam Linscott, making it a 5-3 game.
Meanwhile, Anthony Tomczak was dominating the Wild Things lineup, striking out nine in almost five innings of work out of the bullpen. His nine punchouts are the most in an outing by an Otter this season.
It stayed a two-run game until the bottom of the seventh inning, where back-to-back home runs from Washington scored four more runs to give the Wild Things their biggest lead of the game.
The Otters weren’t able to mount a comeback as they dropped the fourth game to put the series at an even 2-2 tie. The 15 strikeouts by the Otters’ pitching staff are the most in a game this season.
Evansville concludes the Frontier League Midwest Conference Finals tomorrow with a winner-take-all Game Five against the Wild Things at 3:05 p.m. CT at EQT Park. The winner advances to play the Ottawa Titans in the Frontier League Championship Series, which will open Tuesday night.
