Riley Krane signed with the Otters heading into the 2021 season, his fourth season overall in the Frontier League. In 96 games played for the Otters, Krane hit .271 with 64 runs, 23 doubles, 17 home runs, 73 RBIs, and five stolen bases. Krane was named a 2021 Frontier League Postseason All-Star. He spent the 2019 season with the Joliet Slammers. With the Slammers, Krane batted .280 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs. He played in all 96 games and scored 52 runs. Krane played for the Windy City ThunderBolts in 2017-18. He totaled eight home runs, 52 RBIs, and 52 runs in 123 games over those two seasons. His combined batting average was .263. Krane played collegiately at Washburn University. In four years at Washburn, he hit .325 with 25 homers and 139 RBIs in 172 games. As a senior, in 2017, he hit .315 with a .383 on-base percentage and a career-high 13 home runs. He also stole nine bases in his senior season and 30 in his four years. Primarily a shortstop in college, he was named All-MIAA Honorable Mention as a sophomore and Third Team All-MIAA his final two years.
