Holdgrafer, a native of San Diego, California, signed with the Otters in 2021. In 2022, Hildgrafer wasted no time, going 2-0 in his first four starts with a 1.00 ERA. He had his contract purchased buyt the Kansas City Royals after the fourth start and spent time in both the Royals and Tigers organizations all year. While in the Detroit organization, he made it as high as Triple-A Toledo, ending the year with the Mud Hens. In his first season with Evansville, he was 10-4 with a 3.45 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 17 starts. He finished his collegiate career at Cal Poly Pomona, going 10-4 with a 4.39 ERA in his senior year, grabbing 86 strikeouts in 96.1 innings.
