Zach Biermann joins the Otters to begin the 2022 season after being acquired via trade from the Tri-City Valley Cats. In his 38 games with Tri-City last year, Biermann carried a .312 batting average with 14 RBI and 10 extra-base hits. Prior to his time with Tri-City, Biermann played in the Houston Astros system for two seasons. After being drafted in the 23rd round in 2019, he played for Single-A Quad Cities and Low-A Tri-City for stints in the 2019 season - logging a .210 average in 45 games. After not playing in 2020, Biermann started 2021 with Double-A Corpus Christi. But after just five games there and six games with High-A Asheville, Biermann joined the Frontier League’s Tri-City midway through the 2021 season. Biermann played his college ball for Coastal Carolina, where he had a .308 batting average with 31 home runs and 139 RBIs. As a junior, he was named an ABCA third-team All-American and named to the ABCA All-Atlantic Region first team. He was also the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player. While a senior, Biermann was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection at first base and named a third-team Academic All-American by CoSIDA.
