Otters announce tryout camp, Isom's addition to coaching staff
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Otters are excited to announce their 2025 Tryout Camp and the addition of Jeff Isom to the coaching staff.
“Jeff is a natural at finding and developing high level baseball players,” Otters Field Manager Andy McCauley said. “I am glad to have him on our staff and look forward to the impact he will make.”

Jeff Isom joins the Otters’ staff as a Spring Training Instructor and Tryout Camp Director. Prior to joining the Otters, Isom has a long history of management in the independent and minor leagues. In 2024, he was the field manager for the Chicago Dogs of the American Association.
Prior to Chicago, Isom managed the Joliet Slammers from 2014 to 2018. He also made managerial stops at Lake Erie (Frontier League), Helena, West Virginia and Wisconsin (Milwaukee Brewers Affiliate Teams) and a host of other independent ball teams in the early 2000s. Last year, Isom stepped away from managing to open his own training facility in his hometown of Lafayette, IN.
In his playing career, Isom attended Purdue University, where he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 18th round of the 1993 MLB June Amateur Draft. From 1993 to 1995, Isom pitched in the Pittsburgh and San Diego affiliations, while also adding a few years of independent baseball afterwords.
