RECAP | Otters fall to Wild Things in season opener

 

Evansville, Ind. – The Evansville Otters opened up their 2023 season at historic Bosse Field in front of 4,106 fans but fell to the Washington Wild Things 7-0.

 

First year Otter Jomar Reyes led Evansville with two hits including a double. Jeffrey Baez in his third season with the Otters hit two singles.

 

The Wild Things opened the scoring in the first inning with a run and added two in the fourth and three in the fifth. They added a final run in the sixth.

 

Tim Holdgrafer made his second straight opening day start for the Otters.

 

Nick Gotta led Washington with two hits and an RBI.

 

The Otters saw four different pitchers make their Bosse Field debut including Leoni De La Cruz who pitched a perfect eighth inning.

 

Opening weekend continues against Washington on Saturday night from Bosse Field with a 6:35 p.m. CT first pitch. Tickets are available for purchase by visiting evansvilleotters.com. Saturday night is part of Slay’s Restoration Opening Weekend with a post game fireworks show.

 

The game will be televised on FloSports with audio-only coverage available for free on the Evansville Otters YouTube page

 

The Evansville Otters are the 2006 and 2016 Frontier League champions.
