SAUGET, Ill. - After taking an early lead Saturday, the Evansville Otters watched the game get away in the fifth inning, leading to a 5-1 loss at Gateway.

Zach Biermann picked up where he left off Friday, hitting a solo home run in the second inning to give Evansville a 1-0 lead.

Evansville starting pitcher Ryan O'Reilly pitched well through the first four innings, battling on the mound to strand some Gateway baserunners.

Evansville's 1-0 lead held steady until the fifth inning when the mistakes began to add up against the Otters.

After reaching on a leadoff single, Jose Rosario scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at one a piece.

A couple of batters later, Andrew Penner added another run, driving home Alex Hernandez while reaching on an error.

After a second out in the inning, Isaac Benard singled to center, driving in a single run - but the ball got past center fielder Miles Gordon, allowing a second run to score and for Benard to reach home also, the score quickly at 5-1 Grizzlies.

Evansville managed a base hit in the sixth but were then sat down in order for the remaining 11 batters.

Ryan O'Reilly received the tough-luck loss, allowing five runs - one earned - on four hits in five complete innings. J.P. Williams received the win for Gateway, his second of the year.
