RECAP | Holdgrafer pitches a gem as Otters sweep Crushers

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters completed their second sweep of the season Thursday behind Tim Holdgrafer's eight scoreless innings in a 5-3 win.
Evansville got the game's scoring started with a two-run single from centerfielder Miles Gordon in the bottom of the second inning.
One inning later, the Otters' lead doubled with a solo home run from third basemen J.R. Davis before left fielder Jeffery Baez scored on an error.
The 4-0 lead held on until the seventh, when the Otters added a run of insurance on an RBI single from Baez.
In the meantime, Tim Holdgrafer was dominant on the mound for the Otters, not allowing a hit until the sixth inning.
Holdgrafer would leave the game after the eighth inning, giving up just two hits, walking a pair and striking out 10. It was his second double-figure strikeout performance of the season.
Lake Erie struck in the ninth, as Jake Polancic entered the game for the Otters. Designated hitter Jackson Valera reached on a hit by pitch and third basemen Kokko Figueiredo got on with a single. The two were brought home by a three-run home run from centerfielder Jared Mang.
Logan Sawyer would then enter the game for the Otters, navigating around another walk to close the game out, earning his Frontier League-leading fifth save.
The win was earned by Holdgrafer as Brock Begue was handed the loss.
Evansville out-hit the Crushers for the third straight night, 9-4.
The win marks the second series sweep for Evansville this year - both at Bosse Field.
Up next, the Otters head west for their first matchup with West Division opponent Gateway. Friday's series opener is set to begin at 6:45 p.m., with coverage available on the Evansville Otters YouTube page.
