RECAP | Otters win FLCF, advance to first Championship Series since 2023

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2026) - The Evansville Otters (3-2) rode a big offensive performance to a series win in Game Five of the Frontier League Midwest Conference Finals against the Washington Wild Things (2-3) on Sunday night, 9-6.
Ryan Wiltse made his second start of the series against Kelvin Perez for Washington.
The Otters struck first in the top of the second inning with a solo home run by Logan Brown, his fourth of the postseason.
They extended their lead quickly in the next frame. The first four reached base on four straight singles to start the fourth inning. Amani Jones, Dennis Pierce and Brown would drive in runs before LG Castillo hit a two-run home run to make it 6-0.
Washington scored two unanswered runs to make the game a little closer, but the Otters returned the favor, bringing it back to a six-run game in the top of the sixth inning on three hits.
The Wild Things brought one back in the bottom half to make it 8-3.
Mark Black would hit a solo home run to leadoff the eighth inning, putting the Otters back up six.
Washington would put three runs across in the bottom of the ninth, but a couple of web gems from Castillo and Sam Linscott gave the Otters the series win. They advance to the Frontier League Championship Series for the first time since 2023.
