RECAP | Brown's homer sends FLWC to winner-take-all Game Three
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 11, 2026) - The Evansville Otters (1-1) scored four unanswered runs to even the series in Game Two of the Frontier League Wild Card Series against the Schaumburg Boomers (1-1) on Friday night, 4-1.
Colby Morse made the first playoff start of his professional career against Buddie Pindel for Schaumburg.
Both pitchers were battling through the first five innings, with one run coming in for Schaumburg on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the third.
Both teams traded zeroes in the sixth inning as it became a battle of the bullpens.
Evansville would start the seventh inning with two singles, Amani Jones advancing them to second and third on a sacrifice bunt. Dennis Pierce hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game up before Logan Brown would break the tie immediately on an opposite-field two-run home run to make it 3-1.
Sam Linscott got an insurance run an inning later with a solo home run to put the Otters ahead by three.
The bullpen was lights out yet again. Dylan Zentko, Joe Morrissey, Alex Valdez and Junior Cerda combined to hold Schaumburg scoreless for the last four innings. Cerda stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, inducing a Kyle Fitzgerald flyout to give him the save.
Evansville ties the FLWC series with the win, as the 2026 Frontier League Playoffs continue tomorrow with a winner-take-all Game Three at 6:30 p.m. CT at Wintrust Field. The winner of tomorrow’s game will advance to the Frontier League Conference Finals to face the winner of another winner-take-all Game Three between Washington and Florence.
