RECAP | Pierce homers again but Otters fall in game four

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (60-40) dropped another close one in game four against the Down East Bird Dawgs (48-52) on Friday night, 5-3.
Joan Gonzalez made his fourth start with Evansville this season against Drew Henderson, making his 20th start for Down East.
Down East put two runs on the board in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and a single. They made it 3-0 with an additional run coming across in the third inning.
Two more scored in the fifth inning, giving the Bird Dawgs a five-run lead.
The Otters got on the board in the top of the sixth inning, as Dennis Pierce hit his 16th home run of the season, a three-run shot to dead center to cut the deficit to two.
That would be all the scoring in game four as both bullpens pitched well in the last three frames. Nolan Thebiay threw two scoreless innings and recorded his 100th professional strikeout in the process. Anthony Tomczak had a runner on third with no outs and proceeded to strand him in the eighth inning.
