RECAP | Otters on wrong side of back-and-forth game two
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (59-39) dropped game two of six against the Down East Bird Dawgs (46-52) on Wednesday night, 8-7.
Colby Morse got the start for Evansville against Axel Andueza for Down East.
Both teams would trade runs in the first inning, Evansville getting on the board first with an error scoring Logan Brown.
Down East took the lead in the second inning. The Otters tied the game in the fifth inning, but the Bird Dawgs responded with a run in the bottom half to take the lead right back.
Both teams would trade two-run innings in the sixth, the Otters scoring on another error and an RBI groundout by Cade Marquardt. Down East brought home two to take the lead back, 5-4.
Evansville brought home three runs in the next frame, gathering four hits, including an RBI triple from Brown to give the Otters a two-run advantage.
Down East tied the game back up immediately in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game back up at seven.
In the bottom of the ninth, a bobbled grounder brought home the winning run for the Bird Dawgs.
Evansville is now 59-39, dropping the first two games of the series. The Otters look to answer in game three against the Bird Dawgs tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CT at Grainger Stadium.
