RECAP | Otters fall in first-ever meeting with Bird Dawgs
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (59-38) lost via walk-off home run in game one of six against the Down East Bird Dawgs (46-51) on Tuesday night, 7-6.
Landon Willeman was on the mound for Evansville against Jace Miner for Down East.
Down East struck first in the opening frame on a leadoff home run.
The Otters would bring three across in the third inning on an RBI double by T.J. Salvaggio and a two-run home run by Marcos Gonzalez.
The Bird Dawgs got those three back in the bottom half, answering back to make it 4-3.
Evansville tied the game in the fifth inning with three walks and an RBI fielder’s choice by LG Castillo.
Down East scored one in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to get their largest lead of the day.
Mark Black tied the game in the eighth inning on a two-run double that scored Sam Linscott and Chris Kwitzer.
With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, Kalae Harrison hit a walk-off home run to give Down East the win in the first-ever matchup between the two teams.
Evansville is now 59-38, only their second walk-off loss of the season.
The Otters will look to win their first game against the Bird Dawgs tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CT at Grainger Stadium.
