RECAP | Otters shutout in series middle game
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (56-36) were shut out in game two of the series against the Schaumburg Boomers (51-41) on Wednesday night, 10-0.
Landon Willeman made his third start against Schaumburg this season, facing Cole Cook for the Boomers.
Schaumburg scored early and often, bringing home two runs in each of the first two innings. They would put up three more runs in the third inning to go up 7-0.
Two more runs would come across in the sixth for the Boomers on two wild pitches, with an RBI single in the seventh inning making it 10-0.
Evansville is now 56-36 and 1-4 against Schaumburg at Wintrust Field. They are now 4 games ahead of the Y’alls for the first Wild Card spot with Florence’s doubleheader sweep of Lake Erie. With the Otters' loss and Windy City’s win, their magic number to clinch a spot in the 2026 Frontier League Playoffs remains at four with 10 games remaining.
The Otters look to salvage a game of the series in the finale against the Boomers tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT at Wintrust Field.
