RECAP | Otters shutout in series opener
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (45-31) couldn’t get going offensively as they were shut out in game one of the series against the Washington Wild Things (52-24) on Friday night, 7-0.
Kobe Foster had his first start against the Otters this season, facing off against Landon Willeman for the Otters.
Washington started the scoring early, bringing three runs across in the first inning on three-run home run.
Willeman would settle down after that, throwing five straight scoreless frames to keep the game at 3-0 heading to the seventh.
After the first two Wild Things got out on a double play in the bottom of the seventh, six straight batters would reach base as Washington found a seven-run lead.
Foster would finish his start with eight scoreless innings and ten strikeouts, with Michael O’Hanlon throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning to give Washington the victory.
Ben Kowalski will take the hill tomorrow for Washington against Evansville’s Dylan Zentko, both of them making their third starts of the season in game two.
Evansville will look to regroup tomorrow in game two against Washington starting at 6:05 p.m. CT at EQT Park.
