RECAP | Otters drop game two in Crestwood
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters (41-28) dropped game two of the four-game series against the Windy City ThunderBolts (33-36) on Saturday night, 6-1.
With the first game of the originally scheduled split doubleheader getting postponed, there was only one game to be played, starting late after a rain delay.
It was Ramon Rodriguez making his third professional start for Windy City up against Garret Simpson for Evansville.
Rodriguez threw a 1-2-3 first inning, ending the Otters' seven-game streak of scoring in the first inning. Windy City brought two runs across in the first inning on four straight hits, taking the lead early.
The ‘Bolts would extend the lead further in the third inning with three more runs scoring.
One more run scored in the fifth for Windy City to make it 6-0. Meanwhile, Rodriguez held the Otters' offense to one hit over the first six innings.
Both bullpens were great, with Evansville’s David Eckaus and Nate Wohlgemuth each throwing scoreless innings.
Marcos Gonzalez’s double in the seventh inning extended his on-base streak to 19 games, now the longest active streak on the Otters.
Evansville is now 41-28, ending their five-game road winning streak.
Evansville will play two seven-inning games against the ThunderBolts tomorrow, starting game one at 1:05 p.m. CT at Ozinga Field.
