Deangelo Mack signed with the Evansville Otters on May 25th.
The outfielder was traded to Evansville from the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League on the very same day. The move was made for a player to be named later.
In college, Deangelo played three seasons for the University of South Carolina, hitting .337 during his time with the Gamecocks. South Carolina made the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons.
After excelling as a Gamecock, Mack then became a 13th round pick of the New York Yankees in the 2009 draft.
Deangelo hit .306 during his rookie season with Staten Island and reached as high as Double-A Trenton last year (.248, 4 HR, 17 RBIs).
Mack is not the first Otter to have played for Somerset (Eric Massingham) or the first Otter from South Carolina (Nick Ebert).
