Early scoring and strong bullpen pivotal in 7-6 Otters win
 
(EVANSVILLE, In.)- The Evansville Otters utilized a four-run 3rd inning and a strong outing from the bullpen in a win against the Gateway Grizzlies 7-6 at Bosse Field on Tuesday night. 
 
Robert Romero came in to close the game in the 9th inning but allowed a two-run home run to Charlie Lisk. The right-hander settled down to ground out Jason Patton to end the game in the Otters’ second consecutive win.
 
Both teams scored a run in the first inning and the Grizzlies rallied back for two runs in the top of the 2nd inning.
 
Down 3-1, Evansville stormed back for four runs in the 3rd inning including an RBI single from Billy Killian and a run producing double from Andre Liscinsky.
 
Chris Peters started for the Otters but only lasted four inning while allowing four runs. He turned the game over to the bullpen who received 2 2/3 innings from Nick Sottung who earned the win. Suttong allowed just one hit and struck out five runners for his first win of the season.
 
Tom Vessella continued the trend as he tossed 1 1/3 innings and Ricky Romero was able to cement the win in the 9th inning for Evansvile.
 
The Otters are now 2-3 this season and look for a sweep of the Gateway Grizzlies tomorrow night in the series finale at Bosse Field. Game time is scheduled for 6:35 PM CST. Evansville will pitch right-hander Jason Roenicke (0-1, 12.60) and Gateway will counter with righty Mark Brackman (0-0, 5.40).

The game can also be heard on the radio beginning at 6:20 PM on WUEV 91.5 FM. Mike Radomski will have the play-by-play for the game with Bill McKeon providing the color commentary.
 
Game notes: John Waltenbury went 2 for 5 in the win including two RBIs on a single in the 4th inning. Third baseman Jake Rogers went 1 for 5 in the game continuing his hitting streak to all five games this season.
