Otters Winless on Road Trip

06/01/2009 1:00 PM -
The Evansville Otters dropped their sixth straight game, 2-0 to the Traverse City Beach Bums Sunday evening in Traverse City, Michigan. Starting pitcher John Ducey (0-2) held the Bums scoreless for five innings, but surrendered a two-run triple to the last batter he faced, centerfielder Mike Epping, with one out in the sixth inning.
The Otters (2-7) managed only five hits on the heels of Saturday’s 3-1 loss where they produced only four hits.
The loss ends a miserable first road trip for the Otters. Tuesday’s game with the Kalamazoo Kings was delayed three hours by rain, ultimately a 7-3 loss with the game ending around 1am. Wednesday the Otters took a 7-6 lead to the bottom of the ninth, but lost on a walk-off two run home run off the bat of Kings left fielder Simon Williams. The Otters took to the field eleven hours later for a 10:15am first pitch, dropping the final game of the set 6-3.
Evansville found their starting pitching in Traverse City, but the bats fell silent.
The Otters will be back in the friendly confines of Bosse Field Tuesday to host the Kalamazoo Kings, with first pitch coming at 7:05pm CDT.
