Later in the inning, another outfielder, Matt Sheely, would hit a two-run home run to left field. It was his second home run of the season as Evansville led 3-0.

Trailing by three runs, Washington rallied back to score on a safety squeeze bunt in the bottom of the inning only to see the Otters rally again.

Ahead 3-1, catcher Brett Chamberlain added to the lead with an RBI single in the fourth and came through again with another run-producing single in the eighth.

Leading by five runs, relievers Patrick Crider and Nick Montgomery would each pitch a scoreless inning as the Otters prevailed in the 6-1 win.
