(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) – The Evansville Otters are proud to announce that closer Eric Massingham and pitching coach Brooks Carey have been named to the 2012 Frontier League All-Star team.
Evansville will now have three representatives in the game including pitcher Dan Blewett who was named to the squad yesterday.
Massingham (2-0, 2.00 earned run average) is one of the most reliable closers in all of the Frontier League with nine saves this season. This is his first Frontier League All-Star appearance.
“I am very happy that ‘Mass’ made the All-Star team,” said Otters manager Andy McCauley. “I really feel he deserved to be nominated last year but am glad to see he is in it this season. Massingham is definitely one of the best closers in the league.”
Carey was also named the pitching coach of the Frontier League East Division team. Under his guidance, Evansville has the second most strikeouts (326) and the fourth best ERA (3.76) in the Frontier League.
“Brooks received the recognition he deserved,” added McCauley. “He is the best pitching coach in the league and probably a lot of leagues. Brooks has the ability to relate to players and get the most out of them.”
The Normal CornBelters will be hosting to the 2012 Frontier league All Star game at the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois.
