OTTERS DROP SERIES OPENER AT NORMAL

(NORMAL, IL) --- The Evansville Otters lost the first game of the series at the Normal CornBelters 6-0 on Monday night.

Normal rallied early against Evansville left-hander Matt Crim. The CornBelters scored a run in the first, tallied another run in the third and two additional runs in the fourth inning.

Evansville then trailed 4-0 entering the fifth but only recorded two hits against Normal's lefty starter Justin Albert.

The CornBelters would add a late run in the sixth and another in the eighth for the 6-0 victory.

Normal is now 6-14 this season with the win as Evansville is currently 8-14.

Justin Albert (1-2) earns the win after going six scoreless innings. Matt Crim (0-3) takes the loss after giving up five runs in a total of six innings. Reliever Ryan Krumlauf threw the last three innings for his first save of the year.

The Otters will look to even up the series tomorrow evening at the Corn Crib. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. as left-hander Garrett Bullock (0-2, 3.42 Earned Run Average) will start for Evansville and righty Daniel Brett (1-2, 4.18 ERA) will be on the mound for Normal.

Evansville will return home this Thursday when they open a three game series with the London Rippers. Bosse Field will again host Thirsty Thursday, with $1 draft beer. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (812) 435-8686.
