(O'Fallon, Missouri) – The Evansville Otters led early but fell behind over the next few innings, falling 8-2 at River City on Saturday night.
River City was fueled by a six run third-inning and a career-high eight inning performance from Keli'i Zablan in the victory.
Evansville leapt ahead 1-0 on an RBI single from first baseman Nick Schwaner, but River City tied the game in the bottom of the first with a leadoff home run from Eric Williams.
The game remained 1-1 until the bottom of the third when the Rascals batted around against Otter right-hander Bryce Morrow. Charlie Lisk, Gerardo Avila, and Josh Workman all hit run-producing singles and shortstop Bobby Burk added a three-run home run in the six run inning.
The Rascals would add a run in the fourth to go ahead 8-1.
Evansville's Nick Schwaner, who had three hits, added a ninth-inning solo home run but River City would hold on for the six-run win.
Keli'i Zablan (2-0) earns the victory for the Rascals, allowing one run on a total of five hits. Morrow (2-1) is the losing pitcher for the Otters, yielding seven runs in just three innings.
River City is now 12-2 this season as Evansville has lost four straight games, standing at 5-9 this year.
The final game of the series will be on Sunday at 6:05 p.m. as the Otters look to avoid a sweep.
