(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) – On Tuesday morning, the Evansville Otters announced that Joel Padfield will become the team’s new General Manager. A graduate of Evansville Central High School, Joel is entering his seventh season with the Otters including the last few years as Director of Sales and Revenue Development.
"Joel has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to our franchise," said Otters president Bill Bussing. "He understands that we are not just trying to win baseball games, but to create a compelling evening of entertainment for all of our fans."
Padfield began working for the Evansville Otters in May 2003 when he led the front office staff to a single season Frontier League record in financial turnaround.
“I would like to thank the Bussing family for rewarding my years of hard work and loyal service at Bosse Field,” Joel said. “I, along with the rest of the front office staff, look forward to the upcoming 2012 season. In addition to an event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the film release of “A League of Their Own,” plans are in the works for another exciting summer at historic Bosse Field.”
Joel graduated from Ball State University and played golf professionally on numerous mini-tours. Padfield lists the 2006 Frontier League Championship as one of his favorite sports memories.
Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.
