The Evansville Otters held an early lead but River City surged on back for a 6-3 series opening win at Bosse Field on Saturday night.

Pitcher Josh Lowey started for the Rascals but ran into trouble in the bottom of the first. Outfielder Greg Alexander tripled home the game's first run as teammate Steve Caseres added another on an RBI groundout.

Both teams scored a run in the third inning as Evansville led 3-1 at the time.

Otters' starting pitcher Matt Trent had a season-high six strikeouts but encountered trouble in the top of the fifth. The Rascals tied the game, took the lead, and never looked back in a series-opening 6-3 win over the Evansville Otters.

The River City Rascals have now won four games in a row, improving to 47-16 this season. The Evansville Otters are now 23-41.

Josh Lowey (6-2) is the winning pitcher. The right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) in 7 1/3 innings pitched. Matt Trent (0-1) gave up six runs in four innings for Evansville, taking the loss. Closer Derrick Miramontes (12th save) recorded the final four outs of the victory.

River City has defeated Evansville in all seven matchups against the Otters this season. Evansville hopes to stop that streak tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader at Bosse Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. and both games are scheduled for seven innings.

The night will be sponsored by WOW! with many giveaways at the park including a chance to win a Blu-Ray player and eight tickets to an upcoming Cincinnati Reds game.
