The Evansville Otters have added two more to their staff. Seniors Kelsey Killebrew and Elspeth Urbina from Evansville’s North High School have joined the Otters’ front office for the duration of the season.
Otters General Manager Liam Miller and Director of Operations Brandon McClish have discussed this idea for a few years and have decided this season they would implement the program. “It will be a great experience and opportunity to show that the Otters is not just a baseball team, and we can give these girls real life experiences,” said McClish about the program. While interning for the Otters, the students will be involved in many aspects of the franchise, such as birthday parties, the Otters’ reading club program, as well as the responsibilities related to the high school games at Bosse Field.
Killebrew stated, “I think it will be a great opportunity for me to learn about marketing outside of the classroom as well as learn about management. I’m really excited to start and to be a part of the Otters’ team.” Urbina was just as excited: “I think it will be a good way to learn more about an attraction that is unique to Evansville. It will be interesting to see how much we can help out and learn.” The students have been interning with the Otters since March 3.
