Ohlmann, a 6’1” right-hander, was 3-4 in 40 relief appearances with Class A Wisconsin of Midwest League in 2009. The Wallingford, Ct., native struck out 56 in 65 innings and finished 10 games.
Ohlmann pitched for the Brewers’ Arizona and Pioneer league affiliates in 2008.
As a high school player at Choate Rosemary Hall, Ohlmann was team captain and a two-time all-conference pitcher and first baseman. He accepted a scholarship offer from Virginia Tech University, but left because of illness. Ohlmann later enrolled at Manchester Community College, where he played two years for former Otters’ pitcher Chris Strahowski. Ohlmann posted a 3.71 ERA and struck out 54 batters in 46 innings for Manchester in 2007. He was also honored by the Connecticut Community Colleges Board of Trustees for his off-the-field activities.
Ohlmann played summer baseball for the Stamford Robins of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, earning the Jeff Gallagher Award for team sportsmanship. Ohlmann passed up a chance to attend Forham University to sign with the Brewers.
