A Lewiston, Idaho, native, Rogers started all 53 games for South Dakota State as a senior in 2007 and helped lead the Jackrabbits to a share of the Division I Independent Tournament title and to a 34-19 overall record. Rogers batted .312 in 2007 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI and a .538 slugging percentage. For the season, Rogers batted .397 with runners in scoring position, and batted .314, including 22 RBI, with two outs.

In 59 games with Vermont of the Class A New-York Penn League in 2007, Rogers hit .232 with two home runs and 17 RBIs. Rogers batted .224 in 56 games with three home runs and 16 RBIs for Hagerstown of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2008.

"We wanted to make sure that we improve our middle infield this off-season, and with the addition of Rogers, I feel we are moving in the right direction,” stated Evansville Otters General Manager Liam Miller.
