The Evansville Otters have resigned three starters from the 2009 season. Righthanded pitcher Dustin Renfrow is coming back for his third year, and outfielders Kenny Gilbert and Jeremy Strack look to make strong campaigns in their second seasons.
Renfrow is a graduate from Southeast Missouri State, where he went 5-1 with a 2.46 ERA in 15 outings as a junior. During the 2009 season, Renfrow lead the Otters pitching staff in many categories, including wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts with 80. Renfrow also held opponents' batting average to .292.
Coming back with Renfrow will be Jeremy Strack and Kenny Gilbert. Strack, a rookie, played in 54 games with the Otters in 2009 and ended with a .246 average. He was also second on the team with 10 stolen bases. Gilbert joined the Otters in August after being released by the Chicago White Sox. The Texas native produced 28 hits and 19 runs in 25 games and ended 2009 with a .277 average.
When asked if he was excited to be back for the 2010 season, Renfrow stated, "Yes, there is no where to go but up from here. I am excited to get back to the atmosphere and history of the Evansville Otters."
