OTTERS SEEKING 2010 HOST FAMILIES

01/26/2010 9:22 AM -
The Evansville Otters are looking for host families from the Tri-State area to host an Otter player for the 2010 season. The Host an Otter program plays a vital role in the Evansville Otters Baseball Community and plays a large part in the success of the team. Many of the Otters players travel from across the country to come and further their playing careers in the Frontier League. However, this means leaving family and friends to live and work in a new and unfamiliar area. Host families provide a home and support system where they feel welcomed.
Host families that choose to participate are asked to provide the player(s) with a room from mid-May to mid-September. Host families are not expected to provide food for the player(s); however, host families are encouraged to include the player(s) in family meals to make them feel welcomed. The host family program is designed to make it financially feasible for the Otters players to pursue their dreams of playing professional baseball.
Each potential host family is asked to fill out an application and submit it to Casie Williams. All qualified applicants will have a home visit and interview with Casie. She will then match players with homes based on a questionnaire filled out by the player. Host families also receive perks such as a Frontier League season pass, which grants admission to all home and road games. In addition, host families are invited to various social gatherings with other host families, players, and coaches.
If you are interested in becoming a host family for the Evansville Otters, please contact Casie Williams at cwilliams@evansvilleotters.com for more information or to apply.
