(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - Otters pitcher Dan Blewett was named a 2012 Frontier League All-Star on Wednesday morning.

Blewett is 2-1 this season with a league-low 1.06 earned run average. The right-hander also has 51 strikeouts this season, which is fifth best among all Frontier League pitchers.

"It is an honor to be selected," said Blewett. "I am very thankful to the Evansville Otters organization for giving me a chance this year."

The All-Star game will be held in Normal, Illinois, just a short distance away from Blewett's home town of Bloomington.

"I have a lot of friends and family who will be in attendance," he said. "It will be cool to appear before them as an All-Star."

Blewett has been the ace of the Otters staff all season long. Earlier in the summer, Blewett nearly threw the first no-hitter in Evansville Otters history, going 7.1 hitless innings on May 23.

"He is one of the premier pitchers in the Frontier League," said Evansville Otters manager Andy McCauley. "This is well deserved for Blewett even if he may not be able to participate with an injury."

The Normal CornBelters will be hosting to the 2012 Frontier league All Star game at the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois.  This three day event starting July 9th will include a home run derby, All-Star luncheon and plenty of fun for the whole family!  For more information on tickets, hotels, and happenings visit normalbaseball.com or call 309.454.Ball today!
