(MARION, Illinois) ---The
Evansville Otters were denied their first sweep of the season on Friday night as the Southern Illinois Miners held on for a 4-1 win at Rent One Park.

The Miners leapt ahead early against Otter starting pitcher
Garrett Bullock. Outfielder Chad Maddox pushed Southern ahead 1-0 on a first-innning RBI double than added an RBI single in the second inning as well.
Evansville trailed 3-0 until designated hitter
Luis Parache hit a home run in the fourth inning.
The Southern Illinois Miners would then plate another run in the bottom half of the inning and maintain the three-run lead for the win.
The Miners are 19-14 this season as the Otters stand at 13-20.
Anthony Collazo (3-0) earns the win for Southern Illinois, throwing 3.0 scoreless innings in relief. The loss goes to Bullock (1-4) who allowed four runs in 4.0 innings. Closer Max Peterson secured his 11th save in the win.
Evansville will now return home to start a short weekend series on Saturday against the Florence Freedom. It is Heritage Federal Credit Union night at Historic Bosse Field with a hat giveaway to the first 1,000 fans and fireworks after the game as well. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CDT.
